How I get the most from Sellpy

If you’re living in Europe, you’ve probably heard about Sellpy.

I love this two-tone Kate Spade bag, picked it up for about 75 EUR

It’s a buying and selling platform for clothes, shoes, accessories and home goods that makes it easier by photographing and listing things for you, but they take a bigger cut. If you’re not up for all the back and forth admin that places like Vinted, eBay and FB Marketplace involve, Sellpy may be right for you. I love it, and have gotten a huge number of favourite pieces from the site. One of my favourite aspects is the ability to get your profit from sales as Sellpy credits at a higher rate than asking for the cash directly.

How to find good stuff on Sellpy if you’re plus sized

I set up a bunch of saved search criteria that triggers an email if anything in your listed sizes and certain brands, for example, goes live on the site. Because Sellpy is from Stockholm, you’ll have the best luck finding Scandi brands on the site. I have search alerts for the following set up:

  • Lindex

  • Flattered

  • Ganni

  • Zizzi

  • & Other Stories (accessories and shoes)

  • Yoek

  • Smaak

  • Xandres

  • Marina Rinaldi

  • Anonymous Copenhagen

  • Kaffee Curve

I know my sizes in these brands, so I can be reasonably sure I know what I’m getting.

Bags and shoes are great

I have found some amazing work bags and shoes on this site. While they do their best to have an influx of things going live in the right season, obviously you will see sandals in November. It pays to keep an open mind as to what you’ll need come the next season. I’ve scored a pair of gorgeous Chie Mihara ankle boots for under 100 EUR and a pristine Kate Spade bag (pictured above) for about 75 EUR.

Working the rolling discounts

The way Sellpy works, the longer something is on the site, the cheaper it gets. If you favourite an item, you will get a notification when it reduces in price. I favourite things liberally, as sometimes I’m not so keen on something at the currently listed price, but once it goes down a couple of notches I will snatch it up. You’re not the only one getting these notifications though so don’t sit on it too long once you’ve gotten the price reduction notification.

I get so many compliments on this very 80s Lindex satin blouse

Want to try a trend but not sure you’re ready to invest?

There have been a few times I’ve been thinking about whether I’m up for trying a colour or a trend, and I don’t want to invest significantly in it. That’s when I open up my search criteria, and let in the floods of H&M, Shein, etc brands. These show up a lot and are often quite cheap on Sellpy, and if it doesn’t work out, I throw it back in a Sellpy bag to sell back.

Returns are a pain, be warned

Understandably, the Sellpy business model does not have much room to maneouver, and you can see that in the very infexible returns model. Essentially, don’t bother. I have taken to adding anything that doesn’t work for me to a Sellpy bag I’m sending in to be sold, rather than trying to negotiate the returns process.

As always, follow me on TikTok for up to date work outfits.
